Help Logan Come Home!

I am a 26 year old mother of two. I have a 20 month old daughter, Savannah, and a 7 month old son, Logan. Logan was born with many different, very rare birth defects. He has missing, fused, and deformed vertebrate in his spine, missing ribs, tethered spinal cord, and he was born with a congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot w/ pulomonary artresia. At two weeks of age Logan underwent heart surgery at Boston Children's Hospital. December 13, 2007 he underwent surgery for a G-tube, a device that goes directly into his stomach so he can feed. Because of Logan missing ribs, his lungs are very small. Too small to support his body. Logan is ventilator dependant. January 16, 2008 he underwent surgery for a tracheostomy. A surgery, because of Logan's anatomy, Boston Children's Hospital said could not be done. His whole life so far is nothing short of a miracle. Our baby boy is 7 months old and has never been home a day in his life. Now that he has had the tracheostomy this makes it possible for him to come home. The problem.......we live in a small in-law apartment. In order for Logan to come home we need the space for him and all of his equipment (ventilator, oxygen tank, suctioning equipment, medicines, and a special hospital crib). There is a garage bay directly next to our apartment that is not being used. We would like to expand our apartment into the garage. When Logan comes home he will need a pleasant, open enviroment that will be easily accessible. He needs an enviroment with a central location where he will be around everyone. He needs an enviroment where he can thrive. We do not know where to go or who to ask for help. My children's father works full-time and I stay at home, care for our daughter and when I'm not doing that I'm at the hospital learning to care for Logan. We need financial help. NH Health & Human services has been more of a burden then a help and I have searched every charity and organization out there, with no luck. My resources are exhausted. We can't bring our baby home unless we have adequate space for him. We were unaware of Logan's condition until he was born. We were not prepared. We didn't think this could happen to us. So anyone reading this, please, if you have any help, ideas or resources for us let us know. Any help is appreciated. I urge you to check out the website I made for Logan. www.loganberthiaume.mysite.com

hi, I hope things have improved for you, if not perhaps habitat for humanity could be a source of help, they help people with getting homes to live in, perhaps they would consider this a special case in habitat for humanity for your little one, it can't hurt to try. GOD bless

Hi. I love your story. Well written and clear. And my heart goes out to you! At one time I had a 7 month old and a 20 month old, they are almost 2 and 3 now. I worry over the everyday routines about how we will make sure they dont break their ribs from jumping off the back of the couch or sticking something in a socket!! I could not imagine what you are going through. My heart truly goes out to you.

As Im not sure what sites you have been going to for resources, there are a couple I would like to mention to you, that I have personally gotten help with. One site I requested clothing, and got $100, which is all I requested, and the other has granted me a few wishes here and there. The sites are:

www.microgiving.com

www.wishuponahero.com

and one that I have posted on with no help yet but am brand new there is,

www.fundable.com

I dont know if this will help you, but I hope if you havent already posted at these sites that you may find the help you need!

Hugs, Sharey.

P.s., your baby is absolutely adorable, what a beautiful face, resembles my son immensely!
